RIP TorrentSpy

This is a sad sad day! I feel that all torrents are just being hindered by all this legal bullshit, and its going to continue one way or the other! Just let us do it efficiently and the users can enjoy it fully and the content providers can reap the full benefits of there content getting out into the public. R.I.P 03/24/08 TorrentSpy

Story by torrentfreak.com:

TorrentSpy is no more, Justin Bunnell, the founder of the site writes: “We have decided on our own, not due to any court order or agreement, to bring the TorrentSpy.com search engine to an end and thus we permanently closed down worldwide on March 24, 2008.”

The main reason for the shutdown is the ongoing legal battle with the MPAA, which started February 2006. “We now feel compelled to provide the ultimate method of privacy protection for our users - permanent shutdown,” Justin writes.

By the end of 2006 TorrentSpy was more popular than any other BitTorrent site, but this changed quickly in August 2007, when a federal judge ordered TorrentSpy to log all user data. The judge ruled that TorrentSpy had to monitor its users in order to create detailed logs of their activities, and hand these over to the MPAA.

In a response to this decision - and to ensure the privacy of their users - TorrentSpy decided that it was best to block access to all users from the US. This led to a huge decrease in traffic and revenue.

This was not enough for the MPAA, who argued that TorrentSpy had ignored the court decision. The legal battle continued, and this eventually led to a preventative closure of the site by Justin, to protect the privacy of its users.

Brokep from The Pirate Bay had this to say about the closure: “Today all big torrent sites are pressured somehow. TPB has its share of pressure, however we expected it and have a legal system that is more just in cases like this. The way that the copyright lobby is going at this is totally wrong and we can’t let them win. And we won’t let them win. Today we reached a loss of a site, but it was more a person having to give up for economical reasons than anything else. The copyright lobby has their big cards - money and influence. In the long run they will have to give up as well. And when they do, I’ll go to the US and buy Justin a well-deserved beer.”

At this point it is not clear what will happen to the TorrentSpy.com domain. The domain was offered to other BitTorrent site owners, but has not yet been sold.

What is the idea of John Chow? Well let me give you a glimpse. Have you ever asked a successful blogger a question, just have him ignore you and say something like google it, or like your Logic Gate professor tell you, he doesn’t have time for it? Well I have and John has done his fair share to me (don’t worry i am a strong monkey). Secondly after just shattering your dreams does he support another blogger trying to rip him off and give him free advertising and support, well the answer isn’t No. Oh btw i hate cows and i think they are stupid animal, they have big tongues and chew cud and are much like the real JohnCow ( have your links i throw them at you with pity!) Here are the 10 reasons john chow sucks!

10. John’s Favicon, is uglier than Tina Turner in spandex.

9. Does john even own a Lamborghini Reventon?

8. He is conceded with his money he must post about having it every other post. ( when he isn’t showing off latest media appearance)

7.He interviews like a goat.

6. He blogs about what he ate for diner ( literally, how boring is your life?)

5. He is old and has a lisp.

4.He likes john cow,

3. He is my hero :)

Filed under: Random Fun, digg — kingkong @ 5:06 pm

I have been on digg alot lately, and i am wondering what it takes for a story to get dugg thousands of times? What are the affects and what really makes people digg things? content, jumping on the band wagon, or just plain stupidity! I want to know! Even beyond the reasons, hows does that affect traffic and the site as a whole? Will my site crash? Will it thrive? Who knows, but i am willing to conduct a contest(pronounce: test; i just like using the word contest creates more buzz)! Digg this story and i will report my my finding to all of you, stating all of the aforementioned results and any results you may have a dire need to know!  So I only have one question for ya! John Mayer’s iPod Comments

Filed under: John Mayer, apple, iPod — kingkong @ 5:35 am

I don’t know if many of you know but i like music. I also like musicians. I like comedians. What i really love is a musician that has a good sense of humor. So John Mayor has a blog that a frequent quite a bit with this snap reactions to many different things, and for overall entertainment value. Can you blame me he wrote “Daughters” bitches! Now he recently went to go work out or something, i don’t know does he really work out? But this British show comes to mind called ” Keeping up Appearances” anyways, John ( i call him John were cool like that) had trouble sending music to hi s iPod and you know that dumb error window came up and he sent a very polite and well written if i may add letter saying. Yo its me John, i write music and stuff and my iPod isn’t working yo. I though it was particularly quite hiliarious and the chances of someone actually reading it is quite low, but he did it anyways! If i was rich and famous i would be pulling similar stunts just to see how the monkeys would react. Here is the letter he sent out!

He went on later to add that…

I’ll let you know if I get a response from anyone at Apple. I wonder if somebody on the other side is really going to read it … I can hear it now, the squeak of a chair pushing away from a desk as a man grinds his cigarette into an ashtray, stands up waving a printout over his head and screams “WE GOT AN iTUNES CRASH OVER HEEAH!!!” Because in my mind everything looks like a ’60s era spy movie.

Talk about one smmmmmmooooth motha motha!
