Rogers caves on iPhone 3G plans, offers up 6GB for $30 a mon

Filed under: apple, digg, rogers — kingkong @ 2:36 pm

Those kind, gentle Canadians have been oh-so-politely demanding a few heads on sticks ever since Rogers’ super-spendy iPhone 3G price plans were announced. Well, apparently their cries have been heard, and now Rogers is launching a promotional offer along with the iPhone of 6GB of data for $30 a month — not quite unlimited data, but close enough!

haha, i knew this would happen! They couldn’t risk messing up such a golden opportunity!

I say hold out, till they match AT&T

iPhone 3G Coming To Canada?

Filed under: apple, digg — kingkong @ 6:39 pm

As many of you know that the 3G iPhone was released today at WWDC! They also announced many other great features such as a preview to the new, OS Snow. I don’t know what snazzy campaign they have targeted towards Windows with that one but I do feel a cold breeze! Now they have announced snow they also decided to release the iPhone to the Canadian Market and will be released July 11th! Talk about holy time shift, i could have driven 40 kilometers and legally bought in United States and came back or through many other various online markets. So why the delay you ask? I blame the Canadian Cultural Society, they govern such things as, how many Canadian music artists are on the radio, and branching of such markets, as television and online divide of content! Anyways this post was meant to be a celebration rather than a depressing rant on technology shift in Canada.

New Threat: MacBook Air can cut through flesh

Filed under: apple, digg — kingkong @ 12:38 am

Now, we know that the MacBook Air is one thin laptop, but some Apple forum members in Germany are claiming that the edge of the laptop is not only sharp — but downright dangerous.

Haha, my thick ass hp wouldn’t do that. It gives me massages of electric shock.

iPhone Canada?! Legally.

Filed under: apple — kingkong @ 9:20 am

Ok seeing an iphone around campuses isn’t a great deal since unlocking iphones has become common place and my 10 year old cousin could accomplish a guided tour if need be. But twitter has been a buzz all day about Legal iPhone coming to Canada, here is what little information i could scrum up from my sources.

Ted Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications Inc. today issued the following statement:

We’re thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year. We can’t tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned.

A little more information like when to expect it would be nice! Once it gets here there wont be much point in getting since the new Iphone will be on its way!

Update:

“We’re thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year,” the carrier said in a statement. “We can’t tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned.”

It’s long been presumed that Rogers would serve as the wireless provider who would usher the touch-screen handset into Canada, given that it’s the only carrier in the region with a GSM networked suited for use with the device.

Apple says say “John Mayer” when you need tech support.

Filed under: John Mayer, apple, iPod — kingkong @ 6:31 pm

So have many of you been looking for that magic word that gets you tech support within at least 4 days, then the bat signal you were looking for is “john mayer” Remember my article on how john mayer’s ipod comments well he actually did get a response back. Through the internal workings of the apple support staff not through the actual buzz his blog post received. So one guy testing out a theory he had, thought he might as well drop john mayer’s name and see what happened with this problem with his final cut pro. Low and behold the secret bat signal for apple. Here is an excerpt from the email that was sent and the reply received.

Hi Apple,

I heard John Mayer gets personal replies to his comments. Will I also receive a reply? My email is blahblah@blah.com So, final cut pro keeps crashing. It was working fine until software update ran itself today, and quicktime was updated. Since then, I can’t use Compressor to export to DVD because it keeps crashing. This is a huge problem, since I have to present the final copy of a project tomorrow. I’m at wit’s end here.”

Can you tell me more about the situation:

- What machine are you using?

- OS version?

- FCP/Compressor version?

- What content (codec type and source) are you attempting to export to DVD?

- What parameters are you setting in compressor?

- Is this issue content specific?

- If it is content specific can you send me a very small piece that reproduces the problem (a 1sec clip)?

Thanks.
-Ken
