Shutdown PC with a txt message.

Filed under: Apps — kingkong @ 9:58 pm

Hak5 rules! I usually patrol their message boards for a lot of different stuff ( stuff:get my wireless card in monitor mode and steal check my wifi for security) and tips and tricks! The lastest i have heard is to shutdown your pc with a txt message. What you’ll need thunderbird email client, cell phone and opposable thumbs. Check check, and due to evolution check! Since we have shown you how to keep track of txts, you can use that to keep track of how often you forget to shutdown your pc now! Well what is consists of actually linking the txt message to a certain action such as shut me down!

The tutorial is located here on the forum.

Ok every time, i find useful web2.0 application (this time application being twitter)! I look for Firefox plug in to make it even more useful! TwitterFox notifies of you tweets from the people you follow and it also lets you update them from the status bar in Firefox! Check out the screen cap below it is good enough to be true!

I have tried Twitterlicious and have started to test Twirl. They both pale in comparison! So what are you waiting for get TwitterFox! Simple, Useful, Practical!

Task Switch XP

Filed under: Apps, Windows — kingkong @ 3:06 am

This monkey recently switched back from Vista to XP, nothing great about the switch its just my laptop was running a bit long on memory with Firefox 2, eating away at my memory i need a really simple and good OS, which is stable and allows me to watch Flash Videos in real full screen ( ahem Ubuntu). Now what i got used to when i was using Vista is the useful previews it gives you when your using Alt+Tab and when i went back to XP i was in the dark again not know which was a blog post or which was the latest .pdf of the my resume. Since Windows XP, only shows the logo of the application pretty slick back in 2000, but all things can’t be timeless, well maybe somethings can.

Heres how it looks:

DarkCopy Fullscreen Text Editor Online

Filed under: Apps, Blogging — kingkong @ 6:43 pm

So as many of you can see my posting frequency has decreased significantly due to the fact that exams are coming up and the monkeys gotta live. Am i right? With exams comes lack of creativity and motivation to write. Thank god i am not a English major. Anyways many things that help me relax throughout the exam period is going on the web and reading about whats new and happening. I came across this amazing text editor simple and keep and lets you completely focus on your work. I don’t know where i would have been last week with out it. I even actually wrote the draft for this post in it. Its called DarkCopy, i suppose many of you have heard of WhiteRoom for Macs well here is the better online version for anyone with internet access and loves the clean simplicity of a typewriter. Here is what [king.kong] managed to do:

I found it really refreshing the only pitfall is that when you need to look up images and sources you have to keep swithing back and forth which takes away from the over affect. But for old school writers and authors it the perfect solution to the typewriter look and feel in the digital age.
