Super Charge RSS Feeds!

Filed under: Blogging, DIY — kingkong @ 3:20 pm

So we all want to have the highest RSS feed subscription don’t we? Well we do, it’s the blogging equivalent of having the biggest banana around! But this banana isn’t god given, it depends on your planting and growing skills and this post I hope will give you the tips and tricks needed to grow such a great RSS banana! To be honest we need to practice this stuff ourselves, don’t you just hate when you readers bounce up and down then up and then down again! Here are some tricks against it:

  • Use Feedburner: This gives many features and attributes to RSS Feeds also allowing convenient plug-ins and the like! This monkey recommends it highly!

  • Be Seen Not Heard: RSS feeds need to be seen so readers can click if you say subscribe without giving a readers a place to click there will be no use! Therefore See Evil. Don’t just hear it.

  • Guest Blog: Guest blogging can also make readers appreciate your style of writing, which always isn’t the highlight when people visit your actual site. For example if you see a post of mine on shoemoney.com it will definitely stand out and maybe more eye catching and entertaining than shoemoney’s actual content therefore generate readers in that manner!

  • Start a Podcast: This always helps readers get familiar with you and YouTube itself can help generate tons of traffic, so if you create a great viral then you can always link it back to your site! I was really nervous i hope you can’t tell! :D

  • Full Summary RSS Feeds: This sometimes can get quite tricky if it isn’t implemented the right way! So tread softly monkeys, if you need help with that then please feel free to contact me or check out related posts!

King Kong it: Technorati!

Filed under: Blogging, DIY — kingkong @ 3:08 pm

Well, I guess everyone is wondering, what king konging something is, well you came to the right place! What I am devising is to for everyone in the blogging world to feel the impact of a collaborated move! Think of it as organized construction of all things that occur in the blogging world! What do all the well generating revenue blogs have in common! Readers, Commenters, and active members, sometimes so active that they generate their own revenue through the site they so actively comment on! Not to mention the interrelationships they develop with those sites. So my plan is to create such common traits that many popular blogs have in common, and finding your niche of reader which will provide your blog with such devoted following! Just by getting your blog out there, the ways to reach your blog the more ways people will get there!

  1. Increase Link Backs
    1. By doing this your authority goes up and other site will generate more revenue in that manner
    2. Blog gets accredited throughout other blogs and gives you a place hold in the community
    3. Plus if you do this well enough: you might get something like this in the future:

  2. Fave it up!
    1. Also has all the benefits of the link back but, also lets the readers know the difference between a great blog, and beloved blog!
    2. Plus gives your blog a following that people are behind you and your blog!

So how exactly do I plan to achieve this enormous goal, well us monkeys over at the KingKongBlog have made a divine plan brought down to us from the great monkeys of the past, actually this was inspired by the movie the outbreak! For those of you who haven’t seen this classic epidemic movie, here it is in a nutshell

Full Summary Troubleshooting, For Wordpress and Feedburner

Filed under: Blogging, DIY — kingkong @ 7:43 pm

Well as many of you are aware that we were recently having many issues with our RSS subscription, and making it a full summary there are many ways that can be edited in this post we will illustrate various was and tips and tricks for setting up your feed and getting you oh so important posts to your readers in a stylish effort less manner, and couple of tricks for increasing your number of readers!

First of all make sure your Wordpress is functioning correctly for full summary!

  1. Sign in
  2. Go to Options> Reading
  3. Syndication Feeds

Make sure it’s configured as same as in the picture below:

You can change the show most recent to the numbers of you post you want shown in your feed! That little note at the bottom of the section about more tags is that if you type that in your post, it will cut off the recent of the post in the RSS reader those making the reader have to go to your site. Nice little ploy once having the reader hooked they will visit the site, I find it better to provided the reader with the full context rather than just little samples, I find it irritating so I won’t make my readers just through hoops!

Secondly, if you use Feedburner you will have to “Optimize” for full summary!

  1. Sign in
  2. Go to Optimize
  3. Go to Summary Burner on the left panel make sure off if you want full summary!
  4. Feed Flare: If you want it to display link to stumble, technorati, dig and, ect. At the end of posts ( Both on site and subscription RSS
  5. Go to “Your Feed” to see results in real time!

Make sure its configured as same as in the picture below:

If you did all that and it still doesn’t work then it’s a problem with your RSS type, this is the issue we suffered from couple days back we were using RSS 0.92 , full summary is only enable is RSS 2.0 and on! To change your subscription from different type of RSS feeds is simply done here is an example!

My Old Feed:

http://thekingkongblog.com/wp-rss.php

My New Feed:

http://thekingkongblog.com/wp-rss2.php

In the picture below change where my feed is to your feed!

I hope the little tutorial helps, because there wasn’t a single blog post about this anywhere! Now it somewhere here KING KONG BLOG!
