Attendees at Google’s I/O Conference this week were greeted with an Android phone interface that shares yet more common ground with the iPhone from the company’s close neighbor Apple, including the first evidence of a dedicated application store.

Feeling Lucky? Punk!

Filed under: Google — kingkong @ 8:38 pm

Google cofounder Sergey Brin told public radio’s Marketplace that around one percent of all Google searches go through the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. Because the button takes users directly to the top search result, Google doesn’t get to show search ads on one percent of all its searches. That costs the company around $110 million in annual revenue, according to Rapt’s Tom Chavez. So why does Google keep such a costly button around?”It’s possible to become too dry, too corporate, too much about making money. I think what’s delightful about ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ is that it reminds you there are real people here,” Google exec Marissa Mayer explained, or at least tried to.

Google You Maps

Filed under: Google — kingkong @ 11:00 pm

Google is taking a route and letting all its users edit possible entrances to places! This why i like Google so much they are the outsource kings, they know that there are people out there who can’t stand things at are incorrect, such as the masses who edit wikipedia daily! So they have recently decided to allow users to edit locations of interest up to 200 yard or 200 meters and resetting it. For example if you look up your house and its blocked by a cloud that particular day they decided to do a screen capture you could move the cursor the to the nearest entrance around the cloud! They cloud scenario really did happen to me once though! Here is a video check it out!

Monkey Ramblings + Free PR2 and PR3 Linkback!

Filed under: Blogging, Google, Ramblings — Abdalla Ahmed @ 4:39 pm

We just got an email from the team over at MaliSpace about their new blog where they hope to collect RSS FEEDS from various well known blogs and post excerpts of posts which appear on the invited websites front page, basically like an online rss reader free for everyone to use.

The idea is simple; they intend to get about 100 or so blogs that are well known onto their blog system (wordpress?) by grabbing their rss feed and posting a small excerpt (50 words or so) on their main page. Its all automated meaning it retrieves the latest posts on their top 100 blogs list every 5/10 minutes.

How can we benefit from this?

If you accept and let them grab your rss feed, they will automatically link to you in their blogroll meaning you get a FREE PR2 Backlink. Also, you can get an increase in traffic from new readers who may have found your excerpt/post title interesting - another reason to write creative post titles!

The Collective Collection Of Blogs Out There!

So, free traffic and free PR2 Backlink (Predicted 4 in next update) ? We said count us in, and hopefully you can take part of this excellent offer (if your accepted) by simply contacting the malispace team. With a few respectable bloggers (Ades, Angel, myself ) already part of the revolution  , you cant go wrong.

Ive got both my personal | blogs in there and I am enjoying the little traffic I get :D, This is an excellent way to promote your blog especially if its small. Perhaps you can promote some affiliate program and really be evil

Losing Half My Readers, Thanks Google.

Filed under: Blogging, Google — kingkong @ 12:29 pm

So, I was out partying it up last night for that extra hour we were granted over here in North America. So as a good blogger when I got home I checked to see if my readers increased, I was shocked to find I lost over 40 of my RSS readers, in this great panic i looked everywhere around to see if the same thing happened on other blogs, after checking quite a few blogs i read, I was able to understand that it just wasn’t me and it was due to, a problem with Google reader and Feedburner not counting all the subscription from people who use Google reader as there RSS reader. This has occurred before and the problem should be fixed shortly. So those of you who are scared about your blog dying out don’t be discouraged your RSS feed should be back to normal in a couple of days.

On a lighter note do you find yourself not having time to read all of your RSS subscriptions, well I do i was patrolling the net the other day and I came across couple other people with the same problem they provided a little ten step list, which helps with reading and prioritization. Here is an excerpt.

Even when you are rushed, there are some feeds who’s content may only be applicable to a short time-span. For example, my subscription to Woot! And Giveaway of the Day are both daily deals, and therefore need to be read before other feeds. Recognizing what is urgent and what is not can help you work when you need, without constantly thinking of your feeds.

So in reminder don’t panic that your RSS is in half, at least your not JohnCow.
