gOS

Filed under: Google, Tech — kingkong @ 9:53 pm

I bet everyone around the world is wondering, what happened to good old Microsoft systems? But at the same they are welcoming new Operating systems daily. gOs is one of those new systems that interacts with the user and limits the complexity of most systems, like windows. gOS just works, I have tried how the system works smooth and beautiful design and web 2.0 integration. gOS is a Linux based system and reflects such standards.

This computer has a 1.5-gigahertz Via processor, 512 megabytes of memory and an 80-gigabyte hard drive. What makes it stand out, however, is GOS, a version of Linux specially made to run Google applications like GMail and Google Documents. It also runs OpenOffice, an open-source office suite that can handle Microsoft Word documents, and some multimedia applications.

This PC is being touted as the green PC of the computing world, but from what I have seen that this more like the Google PC. I might seem as Google’s first step into the operating system world. But thats wishful thinking. The machine is out of the box ready much like the Mac systems. The clean and simple layout and ease of use is extremely attractive, and i think if Linux keeps this up Microsoft is in for a run for their money.

Hello Google I would Like to Order a Page Rank

Filed under: Google, Rants — kingkong @ 1:00 am

So I was swinging around the blogging world and I have recently found out that the Copyblogger got his PR increased just by talking to Google. But fortunately for him that they made a critical error that he was accused of selling links when he wasn’t but, unfortunately for us Google doesn’t make mistakes too often, this isn’t a hack for any sorts, but i thought it would provide for a good anecdote. Here it is.

b5: “Umm… Google?”

Google: “Yes?”

b5: “Is this PageRank thing supposed to penalize bloggers who are in blog networks?”

Google: “No, this is a warning to those who sell links.”

b5: “Umm… well, Copyblogger has never sold links.”

Google: “Really?”

b5: “Really.”

Google: “Whoops. Well, we have a problem.”

b5: “What’s that?”

Google: “We’re fresh out of PR 6 designations for this update.”

b5: “What? Are you kidding?”

Google: “How does a nice PR 7 sound?”

b5: “Let me ask Brian.” (pretends to call me)

b5: “Ok, he says that’s fine.”

Google: “Great. Sorry again.”

Note: The part about Google being out of PR 6 designations is a joke, as is the part about having to “give” me a 7. The 7 is the Page Rank the blog would have had anyway but for the “warning” that wasn’t applicable to me. Just to be clear.

Don’t ask me what b5 is supposed to mean, I have no clue :?:
