Apple says say “John Mayer” when you need tech support.

Filed under: John Mayer, apple, iPod — kingkong @ 6:31 pm

So have many of you been looking for that magic word that gets you tech support within at least 4 days, then the bat signal you were looking for is “john mayer” Remember my article on how john mayer’s ipod comments well he actually did get a response back. Through the internal workings of the apple support staff not through the actual buzz his blog post received. So one guy testing out a theory he had, thought he might as well drop john mayer’s name and see what happened with this problem with his final cut pro. Low and behold the secret bat signal for apple. Here is an excerpt from the email that was sent and the reply received.

Hi Apple,

I heard John Mayer gets personal replies to his comments. Will I also receive a reply? My email is blahblah@blah.com So, final cut pro keeps crashing. It was working fine until software update ran itself today, and quicktime was updated. Since then, I can’t use Compressor to export to DVD because it keeps crashing. This is a huge problem, since I have to present the final copy of a project tomorrow. I’m at wit’s end here.”

Can you tell me more about the situation:

- What machine are you using?

- OS version?

- FCP/Compressor version?

- What content (codec type and source) are you attempting to export to DVD?

- What parameters are you setting in compressor?

- Is this issue content specific?

- If it is content specific can you send me a very small piece that reproduces the problem (a 1sec clip)?

Thanks.
-Ken

Mojo: iPod Music Transfer via Internet

Filed under: Start Ups, Tech, iPod — kingkong @ 10:58 pm

Dont you just hate it when you have to wipe your whole music collection on your iPod when you want a single song from your friend when your at his place. Well if you don’t you must have alot a patience and money, because i have bills to pay and i just can’t sit there and wait for wiping out and uploading my whole collection.  Here is where Mojo comes in they have achieve music sharing for our iTunes libraries over the internet and home networks! They have achieved both of this for Macs. Windows is still a bit behind with just home network transfers and such! The functionality Mojo bring to the table is amazing they allow for monitoring of specific playlists for changes and letting you download it. e.g your friend has some pimp ass jazz music and he keeps it all in the playlist called pimp ass jazz. You have Mojo monitor it for you and it will sync your music library with his playlist pimp ass jazz, or you can even place it with your own playlist called friend’s pimp ass jazz playlist! The combinations are limitless! I just can’t wait till they release it for the internet. But you can always use hamachi with the current windows release and make Mojo work over the internet under the guise of hamachi. Cleaver huh? Konichiwa!!

John Mayer’s iPod Comments

Filed under: John Mayer, apple, iPod — kingkong @ 5:35 am

I don’t know if many of you know but i like music. I also like musicians. I like comedians. What i really love is a musician that has a good sense of humor. So John Mayor has a blog that a frequent quite a bit with this snap reactions to many different things, and for overall entertainment value. Can you blame me he wrote “Daughters” bitches! Now he recently went to go work out or something, i don’t know does he really work out? But this British show comes to mind called ” Keeping up Appearances” anyways, John ( i call him John were cool like that) had trouble sending music to hi s iPod and you know that dumb error window came up and he sent a very polite and well written if i may add letter saying. Yo its me John, i write music and stuff and my iPod isn’t working yo. I though it was particularly quite hiliarious and the chances of someone actually reading it is quite low, but he did it anyways! If i was rich and famous i would be pulling similar stunts just to see how the monkeys would react. Here is the letter he sent out!

He went on later to add that…

I’ll let you know if I get a response from anyone at Apple. I wonder if somebody on the other side is really going to read it … I can hear it now, the squeak of a chair pushing away from a desk as a man grinds his cigarette into an ashtray, stands up waving a printout over his head and screams “WE GOT AN iTUNES CRASH OVER HEEAH!!!” Because in my mind everything looks like a ’60s era spy movie.

Talk about one smmmmmmooooth motha motha!
