Mac Mini Killer

Filed under: Tech — kingkong @ 3:20 am

TG Lluon aka the Mac Mini killer was brought to my attention from gizmodo, talk about a smooth and sleek system which provides for a simple yet intricate way to combine style and performance. Slightly bigger than the Mac Mini but provides performance to rival full fledged desktop PCs. Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive, DVD burner, GeForce 8400GS and Wi-Fi. It’s $1500! Now give that monkey a shake!

Toshiba Qosmio G30 Review

Filed under: Blogging, Reviews, Tech — kingkong @ 11:04 pm

Hey monkeys of all ages, today we bring to you, a review of the New Toshiba Qosmio G30! Qosmio 30 is the Rolls-Royce of laptop packing all of the necessities repackaged into a sleek beautiful design couple with high features! Personally I would love to just have to be able to boast about it, and play the HDDVDs. The laptop on many levels been compared to a stereo component system.

It’s also ridiculously heavy—a throwback to the dawn of portable computing. Tipping the scales at just under 5 kilograms, the G30 can technically be hauled along with you wherever you go, but you might throw your back out if it’s a long trip. Compared to the slender 2.5 kg notebook that’s normally in my bag, I found the G30 to be monstrously heavy. Realistically, it’s a desktop PC that can be packed up and moved quickly in a pinch.

Perhaps the reason it weighs so much is that it’s composed of some of the most advanced portable computer technology in the world, including a gorgeous 17-inch TFT TruBrite widescreen LCD with a 1,900 x 1,200 native resolution, Intel Core Duo processors running at 2.0GHz, a pair of 100GB hard drives, memory expansion modules built to accommodate up to 4GB of RAM (though it only ships with 1GB), and a built-in HD-DVD drive—the first of its kind in a notebook PC, and the primary reason why I requested to borrow a demo model in the first place I was very pleased with the quality of the image but the video was extremely choppy! I doubt it has anything to do with the graphics system maybe something to do with the system configuration and other concurrent processes!

The good:

  • HD DVD drive
  • Digital TV tuner
  • Large, high resolution screen
  • Great raw performance
  • Impressive selection of connectivity options

The bad:

  • HD DVD drive is an unjustifiably expensive addition
  • Bulky, even for a desktop replacement
  • Poor battery life

The bottomline:

Although the benefit of HD DVD is questionable, the Toshiba Qosmio G30 is still the most feature-rich home entertainment notebook we’ve seen to date. I would let this laptop sleep with my miss kong

TwIK

Filed under: Tech — kingkong @ 2:18 am

For those of you who are wondering what the title is about, just keep reading and you will have a chance to guess. I will be rounding up with I think this weeks best tech is. Secondly I would like to make a promise to my fellow monkeys and readers that the blog has been under some serious downtime, by both me and the other writers. Its a serious exam period for KingKong. I would like to take this chance to thank loyal readers and subscribers!

1. Portable FireFox 3

This some crazy stuff, not daredevil enough to risk installing this beta software just to see how its running? Well there is no need there is the portable installer which install with the risk just point it to any folder and run the exe! and presto your running Firefox 3. And if any problem arise just delete the folder. Life made simple for monkeys.

2. Media Player Lock

Have you ever made the flyest most international most funkadelic mix and people just want to be DJ in the fly. Well lock them out and tell em to stick where the sun don’t shy with this little tip. Once in Full screen mode using Windows media player, look to the very bottom right corner of the fullscreen windows you will see a little tiny unlocked lock. Be sure to enter a 4 digit code and make sure you remember it we happened to forget it and had to restart! This only works with Windows Vista. haha another reason to upgrade. Monkeys over at Geeks got it going on!

3. 85,000 Bill What would you do?

Well I wouldn’t be stupid enough to surf my internet though my cell phone provider. Secondly Bell Canada offer to reduce the bill down to 3,476 dollars canadian. But it was also reported that he is prepared to fight it. I find this hard to believe that the second my phone bill is over the 500 dollar limit, i get my service cut even if its a dollar over! But talk about stupid monkeys

I hope you have been filled in by this week in kongware! Hopefully the acronym will be clear after reading everything in this post! The Kong is back!

The Host with the Most

Filed under: Blogging, Tech — kingkong @ 4:29 am

Now, how many things does your service provider provide that you don’t know about? One? Two? Well the past few days I have been fooling around with my cpanel, and i found out all the services i was ignoring for example did you know you can create up to 10,000 subdomains under your main blog. Today i created both a proxy and a new blog. Where I will be beginning my new video services here at the KKBlog. I will try and keep them both independent of one another as long as i can but you never know what might just happen. The reason I have been away for a week is that my exam period at university has just started up and i am terribly at a loss for time. So any willing guest bloggers would be welcomed! So here are links to the two new subdomains:

www.thekingkongblog.com/surf

www.thekingkongblog.com/anibleach

if anyone is interested in learning on how to make such subdomains i will be making a post later this week!

Apple:Black Friday

Filed under: Tech — kingkong @ 10:53 pm

Apple’s Black Friday sale is underway but if you’re dispensing Apple gifts this year, you had better act fast–the sale is of the one-day variety. Highlights include $51 or $101 off MacBooks and iMacs (sadly, you’re out of luck if you’re trying to justify a MacBook Pro purchase), $21 off the AirPort Extreme Base Station, and $21 off the iPhone Bluetooth Headset. Three iPods are on sale: you’ll save $31 on an iPod Classic and $11 on either the Nano or the Shuffle. Lots of other products and accessories are on sale. See them all here.
