Firefox 3: Fastest Browser Alive!

Filed under: Uncategorized, firefox — kingkong @ 9:50 am

This most recent Firefox update release candidate 1, locked up it feature set it will include all bells and whistles its going to have aside from plug ins. It boast a giant speed up from Firefox 2, which i have currently installed on my system and the memory kill is outstanding but its still better than IE7, so i hope that definitely gets sorted out! TechWeb reports

Mozilla VP of engineering Mike Schroepfer claims that Firefox 3 is 9.3x faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 2.7x faster than Firefox 2 in terms of JavaScript performance. In terms of Gmail message load time, he claims Firefox 3 is 6.8x faster than IE7 and 3.8x faster than Firefox 2. And he says Firefox 3 beats Apple’s Safari, which is also faster than Firefox 2.

Barring any major bugs the RC1 might become the final version of Firefox 3! If your already using FF3 be sure to type about:robots into the address bar to discover a fun little Easter egg. For a detailed list of what Firefox 3 has to offer, check out its release notes

I am currently going to try out the portable version and see if this hold true!

FileDropper came highly recommended, but there was a cost associated. Granted, the basic plan was only $.99 per month, but it’s still a hassle to buy anything on the Internet when there are free alternatives. Then, someone sent me an offer for a Free accounts for bloggers as well as members of Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Mixx, and del.icio.us. It was a sign. I tried it tonight.

Alexa New Ranking System.

Filed under: Uncategorized — kingkong @ 12:18 pm

Well for those of you who have noticed the last couple of Alexa update, your traffic fluctuating was due to the new system being put into place and your Alexa rank should be reflected in latest update. They also told us if you dont like your new update tough bananas, since they overall goal to please the community and respond to user feedback, so i guess that means if we complain enough we will get what we want!

They also addressed the skew towards technology blogs and the effectiveness of there readers to understand and install stuff like the sparky tool bar which allows Alexa to pick up visits from other browsers other than, IE. Where non tech bloggers audiences wouldn’t be as aware to install the tool bar giving the technology blogs a upper hand rank wise. The rest of thew update is outlined here.

Kongware: Display Album Art

Filed under: Tech, Uncategorized — kingkong @ 1:46 am

Kongware hopefully will be a weekly look into software we use over here at the King Kong Blog, this is a pretty convient software that integrates album art with anything your listening to! I love this software it just makes the music sound better, Its like eating the first banana when you know you have another one waiting to be eaten! Here is the review!

Windows only: Freeware application CD Art Display shows your currently playing track’s name, artist and album art in attractive floating skins, in addition to several other useful and completely customizable options. Like previously mentioned moreTunes, CD Art Display supports almost any player you might be using and can automatically download album art if it’s missing (though it may not be super high quality), but it also has killer features like customizable hot keys for playing and skipping tracks and tons of attractive skins. In addition to the floating display, you’ll also see your album art embedded in the system tray menu, which is a nice touch. CD Art Display is freeware!
